A righteous lifestyle is partly formed out of the strongest motivator of obedience: God’s love for us, and in turn, our love for Him.

Philippians 1:9-11 provides us with a concise overview of the nature of Christianity. Paul prayed for three things to increase in their lives—love, knowledge, and discernment. Next, he described the result—our lives are filled with the fruits of righteousness.

We are called to be workers of justice and lovers of mercy with a spirit of humility. Doing justice speaks of doing works that meet the practical needs of people including caring for the lonely, feeding the poor, helping the needy, orphans, widows, the homeless, etc.
